Hansoo Shin is a student at Queen’s University Faculty of Law. At Shikhman Barristers, he supports the legal team through research, disclosure review and other supervised work on criminal defence matters.

Professional Biography

Academic Background

Before law school, Hansoo studied psychology and biology at the University of Toronto. He received the David Mullan Entrance Scholarship upon entering Queen’s Law and the Rebecca Gotlieb Memorial Award for academic performance.

Criminal Law and Advocacy Experience

Hansoo developed an interest in criminal law through prior work at a criminal defence firm, where he assisted with Charter-related research and drafting.

He also represented clients in supervised administrative proceedings involving the Ontario Disability Support Program and administrative monetary penalties.

Work With the Firm

At Shikhman Barristers, Hansoo has assisted with the preparation of matters involving sexual offence allegations, drug charges and firearms issues. His work is completed under supervision and within the limits of a law student’s role.

Hansoo will return to the firm for his articling term beginning in September 2027. During his final year of law school, he may assist the firm with urgent inquiries under supervision. Other lawyers at the firm remain available to assist clients.
